Child Care Consultation
Ellison Center provides Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) to child care providers in Central Minnesota in collaboration with Milestones.
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) is:
An intervention that teams mental health professionals with early childhood education (ECE) professionals to improve the social, emotional, and behavioral health of children in early education programs.
Through the development of partnerships among ECE directors, teachers, and parents, IECMHC builds collective and individual capacity to understand the powerful influence of educators' relationships and interactions on young children's development.
Children's well‐being is improved, and mental health problems are prevented because of the consultants' work with teachers, directors, and parents through skilled observations, individualized strategies, and early identification of children with challenging behaviors that place them at a higher risk for expulsion and suspension.
